This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting compliance-related accounting processes. Position Summary:
We are working with a company in Leawood who is seeking an Accountant to join their finance team. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting compliance-related accounting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
- Manage general ledger accounting, journal entries, and month-end close processes
- Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations
- Support audits by providing accurate documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
- Assist with cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide accounting support for compliance and operational initiatives
- Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and reporting accuracy
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of accounting experience (public or corporate environment preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
