Staff Accountant
Adaptive Solutions Group is a premier provider of information technology personnel. We provide a variety of technical professionals for contract, contract-to-hire, and direct placement positions with companies throughout the St. Louis and Kansas City areas.
ASG is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities
Record and post journal entries to the general ledger with appropriate supporting documentation
Prepare and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and subledgers on a monthly basis
Process accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, and authorization verification
Assist with accounts receivable processing, customer billing, and cash application activities
Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation in accordance with established policies
Prepare prepaid and accrual schedules as part of the monthly close process
Support the maintenance of the chart of accounts and overall financial coding structure
Ensure transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and with clear supporting documentation to maintain strong internal controls
Assist with preparation of financial reports, analyses, and audit schedules
Support reconciliations between subledger activity and the general ledger
Maintain organized and complete financial records within the ERP system and follow document retention standards
Assist with annual audit preparation and respond to audit requests as assigned
Participate in process improvement efforts related to accounting workflows and financial systems
Support grant, contract, or project-related financial reporting by compiling expense data and documentation
Provide backup support for cash receipts, deposits, and vendor payments as needed
Collaborate with finance team members to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
Strong understanding of GAAP and governmental accounting principles
Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite or other ERP systems
Ability to perform transactional accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities efficiently
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication abilities
Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and ethical financial practices
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of accounting experience
Experience in nonprofit, government, or other highly structured financial environments
Experience with Oracle NetSuite or similar accounting platforms
Experience supporting audit preparation, financial reporting, and internal control processes
Flexibility to support occasional work outside normal business hours when needed
