Job Description
Senior Cloud Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer for a contract role with the potential to convert to full time after approximately six months. This position is hybrid with on site work required several days per week. Candidates should be located within driving distance of the worksite. Third party candidates are not being considered.
Responsibilities
-
Analyze, design, code, test, configure and modify software projects or product enhancements within public cloud environments
-
Implement and monitor system improvements to support availability, efficiency and scalability
-
Automate operations, manage and support cloud infrastructure and contribute to CI/CD processes
-
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to support cloud based initiatives
-
Work across multiple technical areas including operating systems, configuration management, container technologies, scripting languages and infrastructure as code tools
-
Contribute to new software releases with a focus on resiliency and scalability
-
Support both on premise and cloud based configurations and environments
-
Assist with root cause analysis and provide input into corrective action planning
-
Provide recommendations related to design, requirements and implementation planning
-
Participate in agile development processes and partner with technical leads to move work forward

Support API related development, testing and implementation activities

Stay current on emerging technologies and contribute to related documentation and standards

Provide occasional after hours support as needed for project work or system events
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
-
5 or more years of experience with cloud platforms and related tools such as AWS, Azure, Terraform, configuration management tools, containerization platforms, scripting languages or monitoring tools
Preferred Qualifications
-
Cloud certifications
-
Experience supporting data engineering or analytics initiatives

Experience with platforms such as Databricks
Additional Competencies

Basic understanding of cybersecurity, networking and storage concepts

Strong customer service mindset

Understanding of the software development lifecycle

Self directed learner who keeps skills current and pursues relevant certifications
