Senior Director of Software Engineering

Adaptive Solutions Group is a premier provider of information technology personnel. We provide a variety of technical professionals available for contract, contract-to-hire, or direct placement positions to companies throughout the Midwest. We are currently seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical leader responsible for software platform architecture, design, governance, and delivery across a complex enterprise ecosystem.

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture, including CRM, ERP, customer-facing platforms, business intelligence solutions, operational systems, and integration frameworks.

• Establish and enforce engineering standards, including source control, CI/CD processes, code reviews, release management, security practices, observability, and environment strategies.

• Design and oversee enterprise integrations using APIs, middleware platforms, event-driven architectures, and modern integration patterns.

• Define master data management, identity and access management, and data governance strategies to ensure consistency and scalability across systems.

• Lead architecture reviews and ensure solutions align with long-term business objectives, scalability requirements, and operational needs.

• Contribute hands-on to software development efforts, including coding, debugging, reviewing code, and building critical platform components and integrations.

• Develop technical documentation, architecture standards, integration specifications, runbooks, and onboarding materials.

• Manage external development partners, implementation teams, and technology vendors to ensure delivery quality, architectural alignment, and project success.

• Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Participate in strategic planning, executive briefings, and cross-functional initiatives to support organizational growth and technology adoption.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent while establishing scalable engineering practices and team standards.

• Drive innovation and support the adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a Principal Engineer, Lead Architect, Staff Engineer, or similar senior technical leadership role.

• Proven experience owning and designing end-to-end architecture for enterprise platforms involving multiple integrated systems.

• Strong software architecture experience across CRM, ERP, customer-facing applications, operational platforms, and data ecosystems.

• Hands-on software development experience using modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL.

• Experience developing and supporting REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, integration platforms, and event-driven architectures.

• Strong understanding of cloud-based platforms, enterprise application design, scalability, security, and performance optimization.

• Experience managing external development teams, contractors, or implementation partners.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.

• Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments with a high degree of autonomy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Salesforce platform development, including Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Experience Cloud.

• Experience integrating CRM, ERP, business intelligence, and operational systems within a complex enterprise environment.

• Experience building customer-facing portals, role-based access solutions, and identity federation frameworks.

• Experience with enterprise integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, Workato, or similar technologies.

• Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer, Application Architect, or System Architect.

• Experience leading engineering efforts within high-growth or rapidly scaling organizations.

• Familiarity with AI-enabled platforms, automation technologies, and modern data governance practices.
