Job Description

Adaptive Solutions Group is a premier provider of information technology personnel. We provide a variety of technical professionals available for contract, contract to hire, or direct placement positions to companies in and around the Kansas City and St. Louis areas.

We are currently looking for a Network Engineer III to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • CCNP or CCIE certification.
  • Must be comfortable presenting and translating technical solutions to 'non-technical' people.
  • Works with customers to develop requirements for network services and then to design cost-effective, secure, and reliable solutions to meet those requirements.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed network documentation both for networking team and end users.
  • Configures and manages central network components (including network distribution and core, firewalls, and VPN gateways, wireless controllers) to provide service to end users and departments.
  • May serve as team leader for more junior-level analysts.
  • Tier 3 resource for various network performance and connectivity issues.
  • Assists the Network Operation Center (NOC) analysts when called upon.
  • Works with SOC to establish policies and procedures for managing the network.
  • Stays current with new technologies, with a focus on routing, switching, wireless, and security technology.
  • Configures and manages security perimeter devices (firewalls and VPN gateways) to provide service to end users and departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Customer Service: Must possess an aptitude for patience, professionalism, tactfulness, and empathy.
    • Must have the ability to assess the specific needs of the customer and be able to communicate these appropriately.
    • Must be able to work with high-end stakeholders and negotiate the political landscapes that may exist in the enterprise.
    • Must possess the ability to clearly communicate with clients and team members verbally and in writing.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage projects that require directing the work of others and exercise some latitude on actions or decisions.
  • Planning and Organization: Ability to organize and follow complex and/or detailed technical procedures.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge in a technical specialty area.
    • Detailed understanding of technical issues to design architecture for stable technologies.
  • Technical Solution Development: Ability to investigate, research, and put into place new technologies in specialty or related area to improve performance.
    • Ability to develop solutions that impact the university infrastructure.
  • Technical Support: Advanced knowledge of technology resources and specialty areas to serve as resource for analysts.
  • Consultancy Skills: Ability to consult with senior-level decision makers, on an on-going basis, to develop long-range strategic alternatives; ability to consult with clients, high-level technicians, analysts, and peers to resolve problems.
Preferred Qualifications                 
  • 10+ years of experience.
