Network Security Engineer
Adaptive Solutions Group is a premier provider of information technology personnel. We provide a variety of technical professionals available for contract, contract to hire, or direct placement positions to companies in and around the St. Louis and Kansas City areas.
We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join a client team supporting enterprise network security operations in a hybrid work environment within the Midwest region.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures to protect enterprise systems and data.
Configure, manage, and support firewall technologies and network security appliances.
Perform routine security operations including firewall rule management, code upgrades, and system maintenance.
Monitor security logs, investigate potential threats, and respond to security incidents as needed.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation activities.
Support incident response efforts, including investigation and documentation.
Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to embed security best practices across environments.
Assist with security audits, policy enforcement, and compliance with established security frameworks.
Participate in on-call support rotations as required.
Document configurations, procedures, and operational processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Strong background in network engineering with a focus on security.
Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall platforms, including Palo Alto Networks and Cisco ASA.
Experience performing firewall rule changes, upgrades, and ongoing operational support.
Solid understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, VPNs, and intrusion detection or prevention systems.
Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot security related issues.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Security related certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CCNP Security, or vendor specific certifications.
Experience supporting large scale or complex enterprise environments.
Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and endpoint security platforms.
Experience working in hybrid or on-call support models.
