We are currently looking for an IT Systems Engineer  to join our team.


  • Maintain the security posture for a portfolio of applications, including proactively monitoring and remediating security controls in accordance with NIST standards.
  • Identify gaps between the current and future desired state and assist in the identification and development of solutions to close the gaps.
  • Documents and communicates issues, solutions, and timelines to various stakeholders.
  • Serves as a technical expert on system wide groups.
  • Implements monitoring tools and leads operation outage events.
  • Leads calls for complex problems.
  • Leads process improvement efforts.
  • Analyzes solutions and provides recommendations on improvements and ways to reduce costs.
  • Assists other technical staff in developing skills plans.
  • Uses judgement in recommending actions for actual production recovery situations and in implementing strategic plans as well as evaluating complex problems/issues.
  • Analyzes overall situational status, determines potential impact of problems, recommends appropriate actions, and provides updates to users and customers.
  • Provides technical expertise and leadership guidance to technical and non-technical cross-functional staff without direct authority.
  • Provide timely/responsive technical support both within and across departments and applications including rotational 24/7 on call support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 3+ years of experience with network administration and user support.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Must be able to create and deliver presentations to technical and/or business audience.
  • May require frequent weekend or evening hours and being on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’ s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • 6+ years of direct technical work-related experience.
  • 2 or more years of work and leadership experience within complex organizations.
  • Server Operating System Administration, Engineer certification, or completion of classes toward applicable certifications preferred.
  • Industry recognized certification within the domain of information security, information technology and project management (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, CISM, CISA, PMP, etc.) preferred.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification preferred with understanding that work toward higher level certifications will be required.
  • Independent thinking, objective analysis and decision-making abilities.
  • Possess and apply both specific and broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in the field of specialization to the completing of assignments.
  • Proficiency in several of the following technical areas: various operating systems (Windows, Unix, Solaris), Unix scripting, Windows scripting, query building on MS and Oracle databases, JAVA, JavaScript, Python, Networking, Sterling Connect: Direct, and IBM MQ .
  • Experience with DynaTrace and other monitoring systems.
  • Experience with BMC Remedy or similar incident/ticket tracking solution.
  • Experiencing in implementing NIST security protocols and ability to manage the security posture for a portfolio of applications.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work with others in order to achieve a common goal, resolve conflicts and manage cross-functional and external relationships; ability to negotiate and influence without direct authority.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Displayed leadership skills as exemplified by contributing to a positive work environment, helping to instill a “ sense of urgency” and to motivate others.
  • Advanced ability to solve problems by considering available information, prioritizing and making timely decisions; correlate data using standard business technology tools and approaches, spot trends and apply sound security and risk management principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts in lay or business terms to non-technical or executive audiences.
  • Ability to assess necessary activities and prioritize for completion of assignments using excellent time management, prioritization skills and work ethic.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum process.
  • Advanced ability in use of typical office-related technical tools such as Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint and Office.
  • Advanced ability in use of Atlassian suite of products such as Confluence and Jira.
