Assistant Civil Detailer
Adaptive Solutions Group is a premier provider of information technology personnel. We provide a variety of technical professionals available for contract, contract-to-hire, or direct placement positions to companies in and around the St. Louis and Kansas City regions.
We are seeking an Assistant Civil Detailer to join our team. This role supports engineering and design efforts by preparing detailed drawings and models based on sketches, technical notes, and verbal guidance. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and project managers while contributing to a variety of complex projects.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning and preparing detailed drawings using standardized drafting techniques based on sketches, notes, and verbal instructions.
Collect and organize drawings, calculations, and design input from engineers to create initial design models for review.
Apply established drafting standards and procedures to prepare schematics, diagrams, and related design documentation.
Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design accuracy.
Support drawing production efforts including layout, detailing, drafting, and revision management.
Collaborate with designers and drafters across multiple disciplines as needed.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding design updates and changes.
Execute design modifications and maintain updated project drawings.
Maintain and continue developing proficiency in CAD systems and drafting tools.
Perform additional duties as assigned while complying with all policies and standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience, OR
Associate degree with 3 years of relevant experience, OR
High school diploma or GED with 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
Exposure and hands-on experience with Civil 3D is required.
Strong understanding of design and drafting software, including Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D design applications to prepare engineering drawings.
Basic knowledge of design principles, calculations, and design systems.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with additional drafting or design platforms such as MicroStation.
Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet or data tools used to support design deliverables.
Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new design software and technologies.
