We are looking for a Data Administrator to join our team.
Responsibilities
- SQL and Oracle database administration, configuration, load balancing, backup/recovery, sizing and space management, RAC, PL/SQL tuning, and diagnostics.
- Installing, upgrading, and supporting SQL and Oracle databases and the associated application software technology stacks in a multi-tier environment. This includes database server, applications server, web server, WebLogic server, concurrent processing, reports, and forms.
- Experience opening, managing, and resolving Microsoft SRs while working directly with support.
- Support of business functions such as continuity plans and documentation of DB support functions.
- Proficient in monitoring and tuning databases to provide maximum uptime of service and high performance of applications. (LogicMonitor and Idera)
- Relational database administration including user accounts, basic networking, schema creation/manipulation, performance tuning, server hardware and DB monitoring, implementing database patches and upgrades, and normal routine DBA activities.
- Evaluate, research, and recommend emerging technology solutions.
- Ability to provide 24x7 on-call and off-hour support as needed.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and plan practical solutions to resolve system problems.
- Understand infrastructure related security concepts and strategies and apply that to ensure systems meet or exceed standards.
- Collaborate with vendors and other relevant IT personnel as required in support of enterprise applications, and hardware.
- Maintain high level technology skill proficiencies through continued education and training opportunities in related to areas of responsibility and interest.
- Maintain and respect all confidential information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in technical discipline, or equivalent related field experience.
- 5+ years experience as an SQL/Oracle DBA with associated enterprise application skills.
- Network Technologies: Cisco Routing/Switching, VPN, Load Balancing
- Security Technologies: Palo Alto, Proxy, ASA, DMZ
- Experience with compute infrastructure: Blade, Bare Metal, Hyper Converged
- Linux/Windows enterprise technologies: Operating Systems, Clustering
- Virtualization: VMware
- Experience architecting, deploying and supporting technologies leveraging cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS.
- Experience with scripting, automation and orchestration technologies to create efficiencies. PowerShell, Python, Puppet/Chef, Ansible, Vagrant, Salt, etc.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrates ability to convey complex technical topics to non-technical audiences including organizational executives.
- High attention to detail in both execution of work and documentation.
- Demonstrate professional, friendly interaction with peers, clients and vendors which are consistent with organizational values and philosophies.
- Able to handle aggressive mission critical deadlines and dynamic workloads.
- Able to lead team members and complete assigned complex projects on time and with minimal hand holding.
- Self-starter with initiative to seek out areas of improvement and recommend changes.
- Ability to design and document and explain complex workflows.
- Critical thinker, able to dive deep into inner workings of technologies.
- Willingness to share knowledge and mentor those looking to improve their overall understanding and skills.
- Eagerness to take on tasks outside routine or comfort zone
