Contract Accountant I Job Summary
The Contract Accountant I is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations by ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and consistent application of accounting standards. This role partners with internal teams to support reporting, reconciliation, and process efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Manage vendor payment and disbursement activities with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
Review daily bank activity and coordinate follow-up actions with internal departments to ensure proper reconciliation
Reconcile sub-ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies between subsidiary and control accounts
Prepare and post journal entries related to assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses
Assist with monthly financial reporting and statement preparation
Review and approve purchasing card transactions
Support internal stakeholders with guidance related to budgeting, expense tracking, and accounting processes
Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations, cost allocations, and project settlements
Perform operational and financial analysis as needed
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Complete additional accounting duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of two years of relevant business or accounting experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of accounting experience
Exposure to multiple accounting cycles such as cash, accounts payable, or capital expenditures
Experience using accounting systems and spreadsheet-based reporting tools
