Job Description

Adaptive Solutions Group is a premier provider of information technology personnel. We provide a variety of technical professionals available for contract, contract to hire, or direct placement positions to companies in and around the Kansas City, and St. Louis areas.

We are currently looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join our team.


Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development effort by writing clean, efficient, and well-tested code in Python, JavaScript, and React, following industry best practices.
  • Design and implement APIs and front-end applications for a self-service portal, providing access to our tools and services.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust CI/CD pipeline using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Artifactory.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools in Python, Jenkins DSL/Groovy, PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible to enhance the efficiency and reliability of our operations.
  • Work with Linux and Windows environments, including basic OS administration and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Utilize your expertise in active directory and LDAP to assist with RBAC management and authentication systems.
  • Maintain and upgrade various technologies, including Hasicorp Vault, Jenkins, Nexus (to be replaced with Artifactory), Kubernetes (MKE and future migration to OpenShift), GitHub, GitGuardian, SonarQube, self-hosted Smee.io server and clients, DataDog, SolarWinds, and Docker images (Linux and Windows).
  • Improve observability using DataDog and ensure smooth and reliable operations.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support and troubleshoot operational issues when required.
  • Demonstrate a self-starter attitude, balancing priorities effectively and managing time efficiently.
  • Maintain a well-organized approach and display a customer service mindset in all interactions.
  • Apply agile practices, working in two-week sprints, and gather requirements to design and implement solutions with a holistic view of the company's context.
  • Contribute to documentation efforts, writing in Confluence and creating informative readme files.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to help and teach others, setting coding and automation standards, and upholding a strong focus on security.

Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, with a focus on development and some exposure to operations.
  • Strong proficiency in development languages such as Python, JavaScript, and React.
  • Some experience with automation scripting languages such as Jenkins DSL/Groovy, PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, including Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, including basic administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with active directory, LDAP, and RBAC concepts.
  • A strong understanding of containerization technologies, RedHat OpenShift would be a plus.
  • Proficiency in source code management using GitHub.
  • Experience with observability tools such as DataDog.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and ability to balance priorities effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with agile practices, working in two-week sprints.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to write communications such as blog posts.
